Essay-The Diwali, A Rainy Day
Diwali is a very important festival of Hindus. It is celebrated throughout the country with great of lights. pomp and show. This festival is known as the festival light.
When and why is it celebrated :
It is celebrated in the month of Kartika on the 16th day. Some people believe that Shri Ramchandraji returned to Ayodhya after killing wicked Ravana on this day. So people lighted earthen lamps in their houses to welcome Ram. Some believe that Lord Krishna killed the demon Narkasur. The Jains believe that Lord Mahavir got salvation on this day.
How I celebrated Diwali this year :
This year I celebrated Diwali with great joy. First of all, I cleaned my house and got it whitewashed. Then I decorated it with balloons, beautiful pictures, and paper flowers. I enjoyed a delicious feast at evening. At night all the shops and houses were illuminated with earthen lamps or electric bulbs. I was very happy' on that day. I let off fire-works also.
Diwali is a very good festival. It keeps the memory of Lord Rama alive. But they are certain social evils associated with this festival. Some people drink and gamble on this day. We should remove these evils

It was Saturday morning. The cool air was blowing from the east. It started drizzling after some time. It was in college time. So I left home for school with my friend Mohan. On our way to school, it started raining cats and dogs. All our clothes and books were wet. We reached the school after an hour.
Declaration of rainy day holiday by the principal :
After reaching school we saw that many of the teachers and the students were present. The attendance was very poor. Many of the rooms were leaking. Seeing this principal declared a rainy day holiday. All the boys began to dance with joy. It was still raining heavily. After a while, the rain stopped. My friend and I started for home.
There were water and water everywhere on the road. The pools were full of water. Animals and birds were swimming in the water. Children ran here and there and played in the water. Grown-up people also enjoyed a rain bath. The people felt comfort after the heat of summer. Nature presented a beautiful sight.
After reaching home I took rest for some time. My mother prepared tea. I took tea with some refreshment. Then I went out. My younger brother went with me. We enjoyed the natural scenery very much. We returned home in the evening.
